DON"T YOU DARE EVER GIVE UP!
This is what being a light warrior is all about.
One of the strongest men alive. It takes a great person to achieve this.
Today I would like to talk about Medicinal Nutrition using Yin “cooling foods” a Chinese food method, Yin in the lower back, and demonstrate yoga poses that help benefit. One belief system of Chinese Medicine and the Tao is that there is a balance of energy in the universe, body of self, and it is that certain foods have a "hot" or heat inducing quality while others have a "cold" or chilling effect on the body. This does affect one’s organs or "energy" levels. A healthy person should have a balance of Yang and Yin foods, as well as neutral foods. The idea being that an imbalance of natural "heat/yang” and "cold/yin" in a one’s body can cause disease or be a weak immune body. Although, in this belief system, it does not necessarily mean one's internal "heat" or "cold" balance is directly related to being physically hot such as sweating or even cold such as getting the “chills” or Goose bumps”. If you were “under the weather” and possibly ill or felt as about to get a cold, you would not want to eat any "yin" foods such as a lemon, melon or cucumber. If you were running "hot" or had inflamed disease, like Eczema, then you do not want to eat "yang" foods such as garlic, onions, or chocolate. This leaves the "yang" energy to be increased and the disease is worsened. Indeed, it is thought by some that these "hot" or "cold" properties of foods are so intense that merely the eating of too many of one or another can actually cause diseases, inflammation, laziness, and lower back pain. For example, ever eat to much shell fish and wind up with a rash? Imagine that time you were eating too many slice’s of that water melon on a hot summer’s day. Too much yin food can lead to stomach pain or diarrhea. It’s quite wonderful to have the perspective and below I am introducing a list of foods for the vital energy flow and some yoga pose to help benefit that lower back. Be good to yourself and listen.
Yin Yoga demonstration by Esther Ekhart
Yin yoga is a beautiful practice that involves holding poses for several minutes at a time to gently stress the connective tissue, ligaments, and fascia. This creates, facilitates, and maintains range of motion in the joints, especially the back, lower back, groin, and hips. It is a wonderful complement to "yang" exercises such as my favorite Asthanga yoga, and also Vinyasa or Hatha yoga. Also to include “yang” generators, weight training, cardio, and great sex! These strengthen muscles to stabilize the joints. It also works under the same principles of acupuncture by stimulating various energy lines in the body.

Yin foods that cool the body.
Yin foods that cool the body. Yin foods are cooling, calming, and nourishing. Yin foods are recommended for Yin deficient and Yang excess imbalance. Avoid some strongly yin foods, such as sugars, alcohol, and coffee. During the day and depending on season, when the temperature outside is more yang (hot) or verse yin (cool), you want to eat more yin (cooling foods) or yah (heating foods). Create an internal harmonious atmosphere with the immune body. Your mid-day meal, or lunch, should consist of salads and fruits on a hot day. Remember ending consumption of fruits before 2pm. Unless you are rather close to the equator. Bon Appétit!
Yin foods (cool):
alfalfa sprouts, apple, apricot, Asian pear, asparagus, bamboo, bamboo shoots, barley, pearl, bok choy, broccoli, burdock root (gobo), carrot, cauliflower, celery, Chinese cabbage, cucumber, daikon radish, dandelion root, dandelion greens, eggplant, endive, lotus root, millet, pearl barley, potato, pumpkin, Romaine lettuce, soy bean sprouts, spinach, squash, turnip, watercress, wheat(please don’t),zucchini
yin meats (not recommended): chicken eggs, clam, crab, pork,
Strongly yin foods:
alcohol, beer, ale, coffee, refined sugars (not recommended). banana, cantaloupe, Chinese cucumber, seaweed, tea, water chestnut.
Preferably I would consume fermented seaweed since it is highest of yin while it allows you protection from the Fukishima fallout. It’s the only thing that can help with that. So two birds one stone.
Empower yourself through the breath of kundalini and organic super juices for optimal health, boost of vitality and purification. Since we are going through a transformation and evolving our health we will gain to notice our breath. It is purifying. Prana = Spirit is the life force itself and without breath we could not live. This is why yoga is important and created for the human being. It is an ancient practice of purification and harmonization. Yoga means union. What does this mean? Besides the oxygen levels in the atmosphere being low, the standard issuance of commercial and processed foods has lead the body into a oxygen deficient enviroment thus proliferating and harboring dis-ease. It's not all about eating healthy foods to heal and detox but also depends on how we breathe or don't breathe. Cancer is one that manifests in an acidic enviroment. There has been speculation, research, proof, and effort in detoxing the substances that hold no nutritional or pro-life functions from our bodies. Like our brains only using 10% - 20% researchers have also included that we only use about 20% of our lungs. Seems that our way in mordern life is more devolving in body function and consciousness rather than evolving any longer into a higher more evolved spiece. From the air we breathe and the ingredients listed and the 10% not, in our nutritional labels, we are being over intoxicated and poisoned by free radicals and impurities.
I am introducing a fun healthy project this spring.

Increase & Balance the Chakras through Diet!
When you think about your chakra system you probably aren't considering the types of foods that you consume. We can properly affect our energy by the way we diet and also increase the vibration of these energy fields. Ever feel or get the notion that, “something was just about to” or “someone was just gonna”, and then it did or they appeared? You already knew. You sensed that energy from a projection from someone else’s energetic magnetic field. With a well supported diet you can definitely fine tune your awareness. These intuitions are processed and perceived at first through your chakra fields, than possibly a reality. It’s more than just prayer, meditation, spiritual awareness. Where are you in your cosmic journey? What are your intentions and what vibration do you carry. Our chakras are energy vortexes and invisible to most of us. These chakras cannot sustain our human body without and it is important to feed and nourish the organic micro organisms and the body in order to help support and fuel our chakras. Whenever one or more of your chakras is misaligned you might want to take a look and see if you are not eating or possibly overeating the foods that fuel that particular chakra. In most cases you can be affected by Electric Magnetic Energy fields that are projected from technological devices and advancements. Often with that projection and lack of knowledge in diet you may find yourself fatigued or over stimulated. Here are foods under each of the seven primary chakras that will encourage you to consciously fuel your proportions of energy. Your diet may very well have a discrepancy with deficiency or over-indulgence with these foods.
We can do our part in helping bring balance to our chakras by eating a balanced diet.

Meditation is just a science of paying attention, channeling your energy into a focal point of an object that will help unfold the
finer aspects of self. It usually involves focusing on an object such as paintings, color patterns, a sound, or your breath. I like to put my tongue to the roof of my mouth during ujjayi and fold back my eye’s gaze into the third eye, and then project an “Om” sound and go up and down a scale of tones creating a beneficial vibration for the cellular body. Meditation allows your mind activity to settle down and it results in clarity and you becoming more peaceful, calm, and focused. Breathe is a form of yoga. You will begin understand that there are two worlds we exist in, the spiritual and the non-spiritual, and will start to recognize the differences between the two. You will achieve emotional stability and mental clarity, inner balance, and insight into who and what you truly are. Yoga is a way of being, it’s a lifestyle passed down to you from over 5,000 years of history. Almost like a guide to help you live a happy and fulfilling life, to keep you in constant flow. The actual word “yoga” comes from the Vedic Sanskrit word “Yuj” which means “union”or to “join” or “unite”, signifying the connection between mind, body, and spirit.
How to Meditate
Below are some very simple steps, just follow them to give your mind a great piece of relaxation.
- Sit in a comfortable position, either on the floor or on a couch, pillow, or lay down.
- Relax all your muscles as well as you can.
- Stop thinking about anything, or at least try not to think about anything.
- Breath out, relaxing all the muscles in your breathing apparatus.
- Repeat the below for 10 - 20 minutes:
Breath in so deep that you feel you get enough oxygen. Breath out, relaxing your chest and diaphragm completely. Every time you breathe out, think the word "OM" or another simple word inside yourself. You should think the word in a prolonged manner, and so that you hear it inside you, try to avoid using your mouth or voice. If foreign thoughts come in, just stop these thoughts in a relaxed manner. You are experiencing the detoxing of thought. Keep your on concentration upon your breathing and “Om”.
